NTPC Green Energy Commissions 100 MW Solar, NTPC Group Crosses 83 GW
NTPC Green Energy commissioned 100 MW solar under IRCON Renewable Power, lifting NGEL’s capacity to 7,372.575 MW and NTPC Group’s installed base to 83,026 MW, reinforcing its renewable growth strategy.

State-run power major NTPC Ltd. has announced that its subsidiary, NTPC Green Energy Ltd. (NGEL), has added 100 MW of solar capacity to the group’s operational portfolio, taking the total installed and commercial capacity of the NTPC group to 83,026 MW (83 GW).
According to a regulatory filing, the newly commissioned capacity is part of a 500 MW solar project being developed by IRCON Renewable Power Ltd. (IRPL). IRPL is a joint venture company in which Ayana Renewable Power Pvt. Ltd. holds a 24 percent stake. Ayana is a wholly owned subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green Pvt. Ltd., itself a 50:50 joint venture between NGEL and ONGC.
The 100 MW addition, designated as Lot-6, achieved commercial operation on September 17, 2025, following successful commissioning. With this milestone, IRPL’s cumulative operational capacity has reached 400 MW out of its planned 500 MW project.
For NTPC Green Energy Ltd., this expansion pushes the group’s commercial capacity from 7,272.575 MW to 7,372.575 MW.
NTPC has been aggressively expanding its renewable energy footprint through NGEL, in line with its broader ambition to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032. The company continues to diversify its portfolio with solar, wind, and hybrid projects, while leveraging joint ventures to accelerate clean energy deployment.
