NTPC Explores Energy Collaboration Opportunities with Tajikistan

NTPC’s CMD meets Tajikistan’s Energy Minister to discuss joint power projects, including coal, gas and floating solar, strengthening bilateral energy cooperation.

The Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NTPC met H.E. Juma Daler Shafoqir, Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Republic of Tajikistan, along with H.E. Lukmon Bobokalonzoda, Ambassador of Tajikistan to India, to explore opportunities for collaboration in the power sector, with a focus on enhancing bilateral energy cooperation. Discussions centered on identifying avenues for joint development of power projects in Tajikistan, including Coal, Gas and Floating Solar Initiatives. Other senior officials from NTPC were also present during the meeting.

NTPC has recently hosted 32 professionals from Tajikistan under the ITEC Capacity Building Programme of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, during January and February 2026.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Bharat Electricity Summit (BES) 2026, being held from March 19–22, 2026 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, under the patronage of the Ministry of Power, Government of India.

The engagement underscores NTPC’s continued commitment to expanding its international footprint and fostering strong regional partnerships in the energy sector.
