NTPC Achieves Record Generation in FY21
Despite the spread of coronavirus and lockdown imposed across the country, NTPC has recorded the highest ever growth of 8.2 per cent in its group generation of 314 BU in FY21, as compared to the previous year.

Despite the spread of coronavirus and lockdown imposed across the country, NTPC has recorded the highest ever growth of 8.2 per cent in its group generation of 314 BU in FY21, as compared to the previous year.
On a standalone basis, the company has generated 270.9 BU in FY21, a rise of 4.3 per cent over the last year.
Moreover, the Group has recorded highest ever single day generation of 1192.42 MU and 990.65 MU on standalone basis. It’s coal plants registered a plant load factor (PLF) of 66 per cent with an Availability factor of 91.43 per cent.
In another feat, Singrauli Unit-1 in Uttar Pradesh, first and the oldest Unit of NTPC which was commissioned 39 years ago and Korba Unit-2, in Chhattisgarh commissioned 37 years ago has achieved more than 100 per cent PLF.
The company said that, this stellar performance of both Singrauli and Korba units is a testimony to the expertise of NTPC engineers, Operation & Maintenance (O&M) practices and NTPC systems.
Furthermore, the company has also realized 100 per cent of the billed amount from the power distribution companies (Discoms) and for the first time, its realization crossed Rs 1 Lakh crore.
Also, the total installed capacity of the Group has been increased by 5.96 per cent to 65,810 MW with 4,160 MW of capacity addition in FY21. On a standalone basis, the company’s capacity increased by 4.03 per cent to 52,385 MW.
Along with power generation, the company has also ventured into various new business areas like e-mobility, Waste-to-Energy and participated in the bidding for power distribution of Union Territories.
It is also actively exploring Green Hydrogen solutions and captive industries in its plant premises.
The Group has 70 power stations including 26 renewable projects, and has more than 18 GW of capacity under construction, including 5 GW of renewable energy projects.
With global shift in energy space, the company has been increasingly emphasising on ESG and changed its focus to renewable for future growth while improving on sustainability matrix. Sustained efforts have been underway by the company for transforming into an Integrated Energy Company.
