NTPC achieves 53,000 MW of commissioned capacity.

With an unswerving commitment to meet India’s rising power demands, NTPC Limited today announced commissioning of the first unit of 2x660 MW super-critical Meja Thermal Power Project.

A joint venture between NTPC Limited and the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUN), the Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited (MUNPL) successfully achieved its full load of 660 MW from its first unit on March 31.

Located in the trans-Yamuna region of Meja in Allahabad, the two 660 MW thermal power plants boast of super-critical technology that enables higher temperature and pressure resulting in higher efficiency, reduced fuel consumption and minimal emission of greenhouse gases.

With this announcement, NTPC’s total power generation stands at a record of 53,651 MW.

Last month, NTPC announced the commissioning of 800 MW Kudgi Super Thermal Power Station in Karnataka and the first unit of 2x800 MW Lara Super Thermal Power Station in Chhattisgarh.

NTPC Group has 21 coal based, 7 gas based, 11 solar PV, 1 hydro, 1 small hydro, 1 wind and 9 subsidiaries / joint venture power stations. The state-owned power generator is currently building an additional capacity of over 19,000 MW at multiple locations across the country.
