NTPC achieves 5 Trillion MW of electricity generation

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has announced that it has accomplished a goal of generating 5 trillion units as on November 30,, 2019 by means of its power infrastructure spread across the country.

With an installed capacity of 52,946 MW, NTPC owns has 20 coal based, 7 gas based, 11 solar PV, 1 hydro, 1 small hydro, 1 wind and 9 subsidiaries / joint venture power stations. NTPC had floated bids for 1200 MW Grid Connected Solar PV Projects with interstate transmission system connectivity through NTPC generating switchyards in Western Region under OPEN category.

Preceding to that NTPC had invited bids for the development of solar-wind hybrid power project at NTPC, located in Kudgi, Karnataka. In the month of August, Siemens Gamesa has commissioned a 3.375 MW wind-solar hybrid power project for the state-run National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).

With several tenders issued across diverse genre, company has projects of over 20,000 MW under construction at various locations in the country. NTPC has been ranked No.1 independent power producer and trader globally in the Platts Global Company rankings 2018.The company has the vision to be the world’s leading power company, stimulating India’s growth.

NTPC generates 870 MW of solar energy, 39,650 MW of cola-powered output, 4017 MW from natural gas. While 800 MW, 8 MW and 50 MW come from hydro, small hydro and wind projects respectively.
