The MoU was exchanged during Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the Saurashtra and Kutch Region held on January 12, 2026, at Rajkot.

The MoU is non-binding in nature and envisages the development of large-scale RE projects in Gujarat, including solar, wind, hybrid and battery energy storage (BESS) projects.

The MoU was signed by Devendra Pratap Singh, Executive Director (Projects and Business Development) and Chief Executive Officer, NLC India Renewables and Bhakthi Shamal, Joint Secretary, Energy and Petrochemicals Department, Government of Gujarat, in the presence of Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, and Ministers from the Gujarat government – Jitubhai Vaghani, Rushikesh Patel, and Kaushikbhai Vekariya.

The proposed projects shall be developed through NLC India Renewables, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NLC India. “This strategic collaboration aligns with NLC India’s Corporate Plan to achieve 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by the year 2030, and underscores the company's commitment towards sustainable development, energy security and decarbonisation,” the company stated.

Under the MoU, the Government of Gujarat shall facilitate NLCIL/NIRL in obtaining necessary statutory approvals, clearances, registrations and other support as per the prevailing policies and regulations of the State Government, enabling time-bound implementation of the proposed projects.
