Nitin Gadkari Unveils World's First 100 Percent Ethanol-Run Toyota Innova Vehicle
The vehicle was initiated as aimed to produce a Green Hydrogen ecosystem in India by generating awareness about the utility of Green Hydrogen and Fuel Cell (FCEV) technologies.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari unveiled the world's first prototype of the BS 6 Stage II ‘Electrified Flex Fuel Vehicle’, evolved by Toyota Kirloskar Motor in the presence of Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister, Mahendra Nath Pandey, Union Minister of Heavy Industries, Masakazu Yoshimura, MD and CEO of Toyota, Geetanjali Kirloskar, MD & CEO of Kirloskar Systems Limited, ambassadors, diplomats from Japan Embassy, higher officials and consultants in New Delhi.
Speaking at the event, Gadkari stated Ethanol being a domestically manufactured, eco-friendly, and renewable fuel retains committing prospects for India.
He said the ethanol economy becomes INR 2 lakh crores agricultural growth rate will achieve 20 percent from the concurrent 12 percent.
Gadkari addressed a refinery in Numaligarh in Assam of Indian Oil Corporation where bamboo is being utilised for the production of bioethanol.
He added this revolutionary vehicle is on the Innova Hycross and is designed to comply with India's stricter emission standards, highlighting it as the first-ever BS 6 (Stage II) Electrified Flex Fuel Vehicle prototype worldwide.
