Bhupender Yadav, the Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, and Ministry of Labour and Employment, unveiled a comprehensive G20 report titled 'A Green and Sustainable Growth Agenda for the Global Economy' today in New Delhi.

The launch event, graced by the presence of eminent figures such as Amitabh Kant, Sherpa, G20 India, and Suman Bery, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, marked a significant step towards fostering international collaboration on environmental and economic sustainability.

The report, a collaborative effort between NITI Aayog, the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), and the Global Development Network (GDN), is a culmination of insights gathered during the G20 international conference held in New Delhi on 28-29 July 2023. Featuring contributions from 40 leading experts representing 14 countries, the publication addresses key issues related to global growth and sustainability.

During the launch, Bhupender Yadav extended his congratulations to NITI Aayog for compiling and releasing the report. “India has put forth the resolve to make climate action a collaborative process based on common but differentiated responsibilities. A swift, just, and equitable transition to renewable energy sources must be underpinned by deep emission cuts and scaled-up finance. India has maintained that climate finance and technology are essential for enabling the Global South to achieve the twin objectives of sustainable and green growth," he said.

Amitabh Kant, India’s G20 Sherpa, stressed the urgency and significance of accelerating global growth, highlighting the critical role of free trade in poverty reduction and advocating for the revitalization of the World Trade Organisation.

Suman Bery, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, described the report's launch as a closure and a fresh start for NITI Aayog and India. He emphasized that the release aims to transfer knowledge from the G20 international conference to Brazil, facilitating the adoption of ideas for mutual benefit.
