The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) has announced that it has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Sustainability and Energy Practitioners Association (SEPA) to strengthen collaboration in the fields of solar energy and emerging technologies.
The MoU was signed by Mohammad Rihan, Director General, NISE and Raguram Arjunan, President, SEPA, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at supporting India's transition towards a sustainable and self-reliant energy future.
Under the agreement, NISE and SEPA will combine institutional expertise with industry experience to strengthen the country's renewable energy ecosystem through collaborative research, technical evaluations and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
As part of the collaboration, the two organisations will undertake evaluation of distributed renewable energy schemes to assess the performance and impact of decentralised solar energy systems. They will also work on developing and validating testing methodologies for solar technologies to improve quality assurance and performance assessment.
The partnership will further focus on techno-economic and resource assessments for solar and hybrid energy systems to support informed planning and investment decisions. In addition, the two organisations will study the economics of energy storage technologies, including their commercial viability and integration into renewable energy projects.
Another key area of cooperation will be capacity building. NISE and SEPA plan to jointly design and deliver training programmes for state nodal agencies and energy professionals to strengthen technical capabilities and support the implementation of renewable energy projects across the country.
“This partnership underscores the growing importance of institution-industry collaboration in translating research and policy into practical, scalable solutions — from grassroots capacity building to advanced techno-economic assessments that will guide the next phase of solar and hybrid energy adoption in India,” stated NISE.
