The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nature Conservancy India Solutions (NCIS) to accelerate the development of solar energy infrastructure on low-impact sites across India.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Mohammad Rihan, Director General, NISE, and Dr. Anjali Acharya, Managing Director, NCIS, marking a strategic collaboration aimed at aligning solar expansion with environmental stewardship.
Under the partnership, the two organisations will focus on deploying solar projects on degraded mine lands, low-risk wastelands, and dual land-use sites. The collaboration will be supported through joint research, pilot projects, and strategic planning initiatives, stated NISE.
Key areas of cooperation include capacity-building and training programmes, technical assistance on policy and technology, experiential learning through site visits, and joint publications such as research reports and positioning papers. The partners will also explore innovative models that integrate solar energy deployment with broader climate action goals.
“This partnership reinforces the shared commitment of NISE and NCIS to advancing sustainable, environmentally responsible solar energy development in India,” stated NISE.
