The Energy sector continues to occupy a significant position in India's wealth-creation landscape, with nine entrepreneurs and business families from the Energy and Green Energy categories featuring among the Top 200 of the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2026.

The nine wealth creators together account for INR 21.04 lakh crore, highlighting the scale of wealth generated by India's energy ecosystem. The representation comprises four names classified under Energy and five under Green Energy, reflecting the growing contribution of renewable energy to India's entrepreneurial wealth landscape.

Gautam Adani and family lead the ranking with wealth of INR 9.23 lakh crore, followed by Mukesh Ambani and family with INR 8.63 lakh crore. Both are classified under the Energy sector by Hurun. Other Energy names include Sanjiv Goenka and family at Rank 37 and Ravi Ruia and family at Rank 77, highlighting the sector’s broad representation in the ranking.

In Green Energy, Vivek Kumar Jain ranks 18th, followed by Surender Pal Singh Saluja and family at Rank 91, Manoj Kumar Upadhyay at Rank 164, Manjunatha Donthi Venkatarathnaiah & family at Rank 176, and Farukbhai Gulambhai Patel at Rank 188, who also ranks first in Surat.

The Green Energy representation extends from Rank 18 to Rank 188, indicating that renewable energy is no longer confined to a small number of large conglomerates but is also creating significant wealth among entrepreneurs operating in the renewable-energy ecosystem.

The representation includes businesses associated with renewable power generation, solar energy and related clean-energy infrastructure, highlighting the increasing scale of India's clean-energy economy.

The trend also reflects the broader transformation taking place in India's wealth landscape, where traditional sectors are increasingly being joined by new and emerging industries driven by technology, infrastructure, manufacturing and the energy transition.

The presence of both established energy conglomerates and renewable-energy entrepreneurs in the Hurun rankings illustrates the breadth of India's energy economy.

While the largest fortunes continue to come from established energy businesses, the presence of five Green Energy wealth creators among the Top 200 points to the growing economic significance of renewable energy as an entrepreneurial and wealth-creation opportunity.

The latest Hurun ranking provides a snapshot of an energy sector that is expanding beyond conventional power and hydrocarbons towards solar, renewable generation and the broader clean-energy ecosystem.
