NHPC Signs MoU with Norwegian Firm Ocean Sun for Floating Solar Energy Technology
The collaboration comes in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed to explore the deployment of Ocean Sun’s innovative floating solar energy solutions across select sites in India.

NHPC Limited has forged a partnership with M/s Ocean Sun, a Norwegian company specializing in floating solar technology.
The collaboration comes in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed to explore the deployment of Ocean Sun’s innovative floating solar energy solutions across select sites in India.
The MoU outlines the framework for cooperation between NHPC and Ocean Sun in the demonstration of the latter's pioneering technology. Under this agreement, NHPC will evaluate the feasibility of integrating Ocean Sun's photovoltaic panels mounted on hydro-elastic membranes at suitable locations identified by the organization.
While NHPC is renowned for its expertise in hydropower development, it has been actively diversifying its portfolio to include various renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, and green hydrogen initiatives.
The signing ceremony, held in a hybrid format, saw the participation of key stakeholders. Executive Director (Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen) of NHPC, V.R. Shrivastava, and CEO of Ocean Sun, Kristian Tørvold, sealed the agreement.
Additionally, the event was graced by the presence of notable dignitaries including the Ambassador of Norway to India, May-Elin Stener; the Director (Technical) of NHPC, Raj Kumar Chaudhary; and the Executive Director (Strategy Business Development and Consultancy) of NHPC, Rajat Gupta. The signing ceremony was held with the participation of the Ambassador of India to Norway, Dr. Acquino Vimal, from Oslo.
