NHPC Awards 3 GW Solar Projects to Eight Bidders
Avaada won the highest capacity of 1000 MW at INR 2.53/kWh followed by Jakson Group, Green Infra Wind Energy, Hazel Hybren, Sprng Energy, Solairedirect Energy India, Apraava Energy and Hinduja Renewable Energy.

The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has announced the results of its auction for 3000 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power projects across the country.
The list of the winning bidders includes the names of various renowned renewable energy developers such as Avaada Energy, Hinduja Renewable Energy, Jakson, Sprng Energy, Green Infra Wind Energy, Solairdirect Energy India and Hazel Hybren.
Avaada won the highest capacity of 1000 MW at INR 2.53/kWh followed by Jakson Group which was awarded 400 MW at INR 2.53/kWh.
Green Infra Wind Energy and Hazel Hybren (subsidiary of Mahindra) were awarded 300 MW each. Sprng Energy, Solairedirect Energy India (subsidiary of Engie), Apraava Energy and Hinduja Renewable Energy won 250 MW each. While Solairedirect won the total capacity at a tariff of INR 2.52, the rest of the winners quoted INR 2.53. Around 15 firms participated in the bid.
Hinduja Renewable Energy had bid for 490 MW but was awarded 250 MW through the bucket-filling method.
NHPC will soon be entering into Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with the bidders and establishing a 25-year contract commencing from the Scheduled Commissioning Date of each project. The tender was floated by NHPC in June, this year. It entailed reverse auction for which the opening L1 tariff discovered was INR 2.64 per kWh.
