New initiatives by government in new and renewable energy sector during the last 3 years
Includes JNNSM for Solar & GBI for Wind Power Projects

The details of a few new initiatives taken in the field of new and renewable energy sector in India during the last three years and the current year are listed as follows:
- Launch of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM). The mission envisages installation of 20,000 MW of grid solar power, 2,000 MW of off-grid solar applications and 20 million sq. m. of solar thermal collector area by 31st March 2022.
- Generation Based Incentives (GBI) for Wind Power projects. The scheme provides fifty paisa per unit of electricity fed to the grid with a cap of Rupees one crore per mega watt of wind power during 4 to 10 years period.
- Viability Gap Funding for Solar Photovoltaic power projects. Grid-connected Solar Photovoltaic Power Projects of 750 MW aggregate capacity to the tune of Rs 1,875 crores (maximum) from the National Clean Energy Fund.
- Build-own-operate model in the field of Solar and Biomass Power.
- Intensive resource assessment of solar and wind energy.
