Neuron Energy has entered the grid-scale energy storage sector with the commissioning of a fully automated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra. This strategic move signals the company’s expansion beyond mobility into large-scale energy storage, positioning it as a key contributor to India’s evolving renewable energy landscape.

Spread across 7 acres, the facility is being developed with an investment of INR 100 crore and is designed as a robotic, automated manufacturing plant for containerised energy storage systems. Once fully operational, the facility will have an annual production capacity of 5 GWh, with the capability to manufacture up to 1,000 containerised BESS units per year.

These modular systems are designed for deployment across solar and grid infrastructure, enabling efficient storage of surplus energy generated during peak production periods and its dispatch during demand peaks.

Commenting on the announcement, Pratik Kamdar, Co-founder and CEO, Neuron Energy, said, “Our entry into the grid-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems segment is a natural extension of our journey in advanced energy solutions.”

“As renewable energy adoption accelerates in India, reliable and scalable storage infrastructure will become critical to strengthening the power ecosystem. Our upcoming BESS facility in Talegaon reflects this vision, enabling us to build high-performance, large-format energy storage solutions for both domestic and global markets,” added Kamdar.

Beyond manufacturing scale, the facility is expected to generate over 500 direct and indirect employment opportunities, spanning engineering, manufacturing operations, system integration, installation, and technical services.

Neuron Energy’s go-to-market strategy will focus on solar developers, Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers, and utilities, with a targeted business mix of 60% domestic and 40% export markets.

Leveraging its existing battery technology expertise and manufacturing capabilities, the company also plans to expand its energy storage portfolio further, strengthening its position in the broader energy ecosystem.
