netiBIO, the bioenergy division of STEER World, has received the 'Breakthrough Technology to Pre-Condition Biomass and Agri Residue for Value Creation in Bioenergy and Biofuels' award at the 5th BBB International Expo and Summit 2026 held at IICC Yashobhoomi in New Delhi.

The award recognises the company’s efforts to address a key challenge in India’s compressed biogas (CBG) sector, improving the digestibility and conversion efficiency of biomass and agricultural residue feedstock before anaerobic digestion.

According to the company, its biomass pre-treatment technology enhances feedstock processing efficiency and has the potential to increase biogas yields by up to 2.1 times under suitable operating conditions.

The award was received by Rajaraman DC, Chief Business Officer of STEER World’s Bioenergy Division. It was presented by industry and policy leaders including Anand Kumar, former Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE); Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, former Secretary of MNRE; and Gaurav Kedia, Chairman of the Indian Biogas Association.

Commenting on the recognition, Nitin Gupta, Executive Director and Global CEO of STEER World, said that  improving biogas yields from existing biomass and agricultural residue is one of the most effective ways to strengthen the economics of CBG plants in India. He added that the award validates the company’s focus on developing scalable and practical pre-treatment solutions for the sector.

The technology is aimed at improving the utilisation of agricultural residue, enhancing feedstock processing efficiency, and supporting waste-to-value operations for CBG plant operators. It is designed to integrate into existing plant processes and contribute to India’s efforts to expand renewable biogas production.

The BBB International Expo and Summit, organised by the Indian Biogas Association along with Indus Exposium and Reveille Energy, is among India’s leading platforms for discussions on bioenergy policy, technology and investment. The event is supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
