The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NIRL NCRTC Renewables (NNRL) for a 110 MW captive solar power plant to be developed by NNRL in Uttar Pradesh.

The agreement was signed in the presence of NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goel, NLC India Renewables (NIRL) Director Finance and CMD Designate Dr Prasanna Kumar Acharya, NCRTC Director Finance Namita Mehrotra, NCRTC Director Electricals & Rolling Stock Mahendra Kumar, and senior officials from NCRTC and NIRL.

The captive solar plant is expected to meet nearly 60 percent of the electricity requirement of the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, marking a significant step towards integrating renewable energy into mass urban transit infrastructure, NCRTC stated.

The project, with an estimated investment of around INR 450 crore, will be developed in Jaulan city, Uttar Pradesh, through an 80:20 debt-equity funding model. The plant is scheduled to be commissioned within the next 24 months.

According to NCRTC, the project is expected to reduce the corridor's annual electricity expenditure by around 25 percent. It is also estimated to help reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 1.77 lakh tonnes annually.

In May 2026, the 74:26 JV between NLC India Renewables and NRCTC, NIRL NCRTC Renewables, was formed. In December 2025, NLC India announced that the company had received a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from NCRTC for setting up 110 MW (AC) grid-connected solar PV power projects in Uttar Pradesh under captive mode. The tender for this was floated in August 2025.
