Nagaland Signs PPA for 20 MW Solar Project in Mon District

Nagaland’s Department of Power has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tvaksas Renewable Pvt. Ltd. for developing a 20 MW solar power plant at Lapa Lampong village under Tizit in Mon district.

The agreement was signed at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima in the presence of senior officials from the Power, Finance and Law & Justice departments and representatives of Tvaksas Renewable.

Chief Engineer (T&G) Nitovi A Wotsa said that Nagaland’s peak power demand currently stands at 203 MW and is projected to increase to 482 MW by 2034-35. He said the state is looking to expand its generation capacity through both government-led projects and private-sector participation.

Principal Secretary, Power, Dr KD Vizo, highlighted solar power’s shorter project development period and suitability for Nagaland, given the state’s location and solar potential. He urged the developer to complete the project at the earliest.

The project is expected to strengthen Nagaland’s renewable energy capacity and support the state in meeting its Renewable Consumption Obligations (RCO). The government also encouraged the developer to create employment opportunities for local residents during construction and operations.

Tvaksas Renewable directors Bhakti Dave, Hardik Dave and Nayaan Ratandhayara presented the company’s project implementation plans. The proposed plant will be the fourth private-sector solar power initiative in Nagaland.
