Mytrah Energy has announced the successful commissioning of the first phase of a 50 megawatt (MW) wind farm at Bhesada in Rajasthan, ahead of its initial plan. The capacity of this first phase is 16.8 MW, bringing Mytrah’s total operational capacity to 560 MW. The project is the first of 200 MW of new wind power capacity expected to be added before the 2016 wind season.

The commissioning of this project will be in two phases, the first of which is being commissioned today and the rest is set to be commissioned ahead of the 2016 wind season. The entire project contains a total of 24 wind turbine generators of 2.1 MW each.

Currently, Mytrah has deployed 117.6 MW capacity of wind energy in the state through its Mokal & Kaladonger wind power projects and this will be the third deployment in the state of Rajasthan.

Commenting on the latest developments, Ravi Kailas, Founder and Chairman, Mytrah Energy (India) Limited, said, “The commissioning of this wind energy project, well ahead of our original plan, is a strong demonstration of our execution capability. It is the first part of 200 MW of additional capacity which we have planned for the 2016 wind season.”

Building the third wind farm in the state of Rajasthan reinforces Mytrah’s commitment to developing sustainable energy solutions for India and supporting the government in achieving the target set of 60 GW for Wind Energy out of the total Renewable Energy target of 175 GW by 2022. At present, the Company’s total installed capacity on 11 sites stands at 560 MW, constructed in just five years across six states in India - Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
