Musashi India has announced the completion of the Phase 2 expansion of its Bengaluru manufacturing facility. Completed and set to become fully operational by December 2025, the expanded facility has been developed to accommodate and enhance production capacity for new and existing customers.

With new capabilities in forging, machining, and heat treatment, the plant now spans 32,000 square meters, including an additional 11,000 square meters of newly developed area. The upgrade boosts production capacity to 6.5 million sets of scooter and motorcycle transmissions annually, compared to the earlier 4 million sets. This expansion is expected to nearly double the facility’s output value from INR 5.5 billion to INR 10 billion annually.

This expansion aligns with Musashi India’s long-term growth strategy to serve a broader customer base and strengthen its leadership across both Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and Electric Vehicle (EV) segments. The Bengaluru plant will cater to multiple categories, including 100–750cc motorcycles, 100–125cc scooters, and two-wheeler and three-wheeler e-axles, making it a key hub for both domestic and export markets.

The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art automation technologies such as gear grinding, automated gear checking, and camera-based inspection systems, supported by robotic, gantry, and pick-and-place automation solutions. These systems ensure high precision, operational efficiency, and superior quality control across production lines. The plant will also serve as a prototype and testing hub for ICE transmissions and e-axles, reinforcing Musashi’s focus on continuous innovation and advanced engineering.

In line with Musashi’s global ESG commitments, the expanded facility has been designed with a strong focus on environmental sustainability. It incorporates a 2.16 million kWh rooftop solar installation, natural ventilation systems, and emission control devices for all power generators. Currently, the plant operates with over 96 percent green energy, powered by a mix of hydro, wind, rooftop, and captive renewable sources. These sustainability initiatives align with Musashi’s global goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its value chain by 2038.

Commenting on the milestone, Naoya Nishimura, CEO, Musashi Auto Parts India and Africa Region, said, “The Bengaluru facility expansion marks a leap forward in Musashi’s journey of growth and innovation in India. Constructed within just 18 months, it stands as the largest integrated manufacturing facility under one roof within the Musashi Group. This facility embodies our ‘Go Far Beyond’ aim, combining precision engineering, advanced automation, and sustainability to create a new benchmark in manufacturing excellence. This development will further strengthen Musashi India’s position as a trusted partner in the global EV supply chain while reinforcing its leadership in next-generation mobility solutions.”

The expanded facility marks a significant step in Musashi’s future roadmap, with plans to further expand its facilities, product lineup, e-mobility solutions, and R&D capabilities. These expansions will be driven by market and customer expectations in both the India and Africa regions.
