The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC) has unveiled the revised regulations pertaining to grid interactive renewable energy systems and related matters.
These regulations, officially designated as the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (Grid Interactive Renewable Energy Systems and Related Matters) Regulations, 2023, aim to streamline the integration of renewable energy sources into the state's power grid.
The regulations, applicable throughout Madhya Pradesh, outline various provisions and conditions regarding the installation and operation of grid interactive renewable energy generating systems. They cover Net Metering Arrangement, Group Net Metering Arrangement, Gross Metering Arrangement, and Virtual Net Metering Arrangement.
Under these regulations, Net Metering, Group Net Metering, Gross Metering, and Virtual Net Metering will be permitted by distribution licensees on a non-discriminatory and first-come, first-serve basis.
Eligible consumers of all categories may install renewable energy generating systems within specified capacity limits, ranging from 500 kW to 1 MW, depending on the arrangement. Consumers with pending arrears with the distribution licensee will not be entitled to these arrangements.
Consumers with Net Metering or Gross Metering arrangements will not be eligible for Open Access as per MPERC regulations.
Wheeling charges and other surcharges will apply for Group Net Metering and Virtual Net Metering connections, with specified levies on beneficiary consumers.
It is anticipated that these measures will encourage more consumers to embrace renewable energy solutions, contributing to the state's sustainable energy goals.
