MoS Nirmala Sitharaman unveils Consul Neowatt’s latest UPS at Hannover Messe

The launch is part of initiative to be global Indian company that designs & manufactures in India

April 16, 2015. By Moulin

The Hon’ble MoS, Nirmala Sitharaman, Ministry of Commerce & Industry unveiled the Falcon 7000 Online transformer free UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)  at the Consul stall at the prestigious Hannover Messe show in Hannover, Germany (Consul’s stall in Hall 13, which, is the designated hall for all energy products and where the leading power electronic companies from the EU, US, China and Turkey are exhibiting). Also present on the occasion were Mr. Rajev Kher - Union Commerce Secretary, Mr. Bhasker Sarkar - Executive Director of EEPC and Mr. Anupam Shah Chairman of EEPC. The global launch of the Falcon Online UPS is part of the initiative by Consul Neowatt Power Solutions (CNPS), the largest Indian Power Electronics company, to be a global Indian company that designs and manufactures in India for the world market.

The Falcon 7000 range of VFI (double conversion mode) UPS from 60 – 500 KVA is the first high power, transformer free UPS which has been designed specifically for the harsh power and site conditions found in India and other emerging markets. The Falcon 7000 UPS is CE certified and designed to IEC standards.  Other transformer free UPS, designed and developed in Europe, US or China, have reliability problems when operating in emerging markets. Many of these sites have high ambient temperature, very high humidity, wide input voltage fluctuations, and operation on DG Sets during power cuts which are not seen in many parts of the developed world.

The Falcon 7000 UPS uses a state of the art 32-bit Floating-Point DSP controller which can handle any load variations or input power quality issues at supersonic speeds in an efficient manner to provide clean, reliable and uninterrupted power to all critical applications in Datacenters, Healthcare and Manufacturing. The Falcon 7000 features a scalable architecture that is easily adaptable to changing power requirements. The Falcon 7000 is designed to be field upgradeable by adding additional modules to achieve N+1 redundancy or to provide additional capacity. Consul Neowatt Power Solutions is one of the few power electronic companies globally that today can offer the full range of Transformer based and Transformer-less UPS.

Speaking on this occasion Mr. Shivaji Waghmare, Technical Director & CTO, Consul Neowatt Power Solutions said,The Falcon7000UPS range was developed based on our customer feedback for a reliable transformer free UPS for critical applications in India. Our World class R&D team used the same proven state of the art Falcon 5000 platform to develop the Falcon 7000 UPS, but without a transformer. In addition to the operating savings of higher efficiency, the Falcon 7000 transformerless design results in lower weight and footprint with corresponding space and transportation savings.”

The Falcon 7000 UPS comes with front end IGBT rectifier which helps achieve high Input power factor (PF > 0.99) and low current harmonic distortions (THDi< 3%) irrespective of the power factor or harmonics generated by the load. This low THDi and high PF in the input of UPS  ensures the UPS will not create unwanted problems due to harmonics and low power factor created by older generation UPS.

The Falcon7000 UPS is designed with serviceability being a focus area to reduce the mean time to repair (MTTR) in the unlikely event of a failure. The construction of the UPS is modular in nature with shared spare parts being used across the family and within a UPS. The UPS requires only front access for service and all modules are on pull-out trays which can slide out for quick diagnostics and replacement. The Human Machine Interface (HMI) is intuitive and user friendly with a LCD screen and LED mimics. A tough TFT touch screen is also available as an optional interface. A wide range of connectivity options are also available.
