MNRE to Grant Concessional Customs Duty on Forged Steel Rings Used in Wind Turbine Bearings
MNRE to grant concessional customs duty on forged steel rings for wind turbine bearings, easing imports and reducing manufacturers’ costs.
February 05, 2026. By EI News Network
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued a circular stating that forged steel rings used in the manufacture of special bearings for use in wind operated electricity generators are now eligible for concessional customs duty under tariff item 7326 9099.
The move follows a recent customs notification that added a new clause in the tariff schedule, covering these critical wind turbine components.
Importers seeking Concessional Customs Duty Certificates (CCDCs) must submit applications with invoices and packing lists clearly citing tariff item 7326 9099 through the MNRE Wind CCDC portal. Certificates will be issued to facilitate the import of forged steel rings for wind turbine bearing manufacturing.
It is expected that the decision will reduce costs for manufacturers, strengthen the domestic supply chain, and support India’s growing wind energy sector.
