MNRE targets 1100 MW Grid Connected Solar Power Plants this year
The total solar power generation capacity in the country stands at 2686 MW as on 30.6.2014

Solar Power Plants of an aggregate capacity of about 150 MW taken up under MNRE schemes are expected to be commissioned during the current financial year. Besides this, some projects are likely to come up under State Schemes also. The overall target for the year is 1100 MW.
A goal for deployment of grid connected solar power capacity of 20,000 MW by 2022 in three phases has been set under the National Solar Mission (NSM) as under :
- Phase-II (2013-17) : 9,000 MW
- Phase-III (2017-22) : 10,000 MW
An aggregate capacity of 1686 MW of grid connected solar power plants was commissioned by end of NSM Phase-I, and further capacity of 1000 MW has been added during NSM Phase-II as on 30.06.2014, taking the total solar power generation capacity in the country to 2686 MW as on 30.6.2014.
