MNRE Scheme for “New & Renewable Energy Research Young Scientist Award”
Objective is to encourage young scientists to make achievements in R&D in New & Renewable Energy

In order to promote excellence in various areas of new and renewable energy technologies, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy is considering to introduce a scheme of “Renewable Energy Research Young Scientist Award”.
The objective of the scheme is to encourage young scientists to make outstanding achievements in research and development for technology development in new and renewable energy.The awards will be given annually in the areas of Solar, thermal, solar photovoltaic,Wind energy, biogas, biofuels, biomass gasification, RE-Hybrid technology, Hydrogen and Fuel Cells.
The award will consist of a citation signed by Secretary, MNRE, a cash prize of Rs.5,00,000/- and a plaque.
The awards will be provided to any scientists working in any R&D and academic institutions/industry, scientific departments, who have done innovation in the field of new and renewable energy, and who are not more than 35 years of age as on foundation day of MNRE of the preceding year.
Such a scientist must have published at least ten research papers in his area of work in International Journals with high impact factor supported by number of citations. Preferences will be given to research work leading to grant of patents.
