MNRE implements Biomass Gasifier programmes for remaining period of the 12th Five Year Plan
A total budget of Rs.46crores allocated for the scheme

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy(MNRE) sanctions the Biomass Gasifier based Programmes which to be implemented during the remaining period of the 12th Five Year Plan Period. Following are the programs which have received a go ahead by the Ministry:
- Biomass Gasifier based Distributed / Off-grid power programme for Rural Areas
- Biomass gasifier based programmes in Rice Mills and other industries for captive power and thermal applications, and
- Biomass Gasifier based Grid Connected Power (up to 2 MW Capacity) Programme.
Government has allocated a total budget of Rs.46crores out of which Rs. 43crores (including internal distribution etc.) is reserved for Central Financial Assistance (CFA), Rs. 2 crores reserved for promotional activities and Rs.1crore for other administrative expenses.
