MNRE Appoints Rakesh Kacker as New Member in its Dispute Resolution Committee

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on Thursday has appointed Rakesh Kacker in its three member committee set up for the dispute resolution between various industry stakeholders.

The move came after the appointment of A.K. Dubey as Administrative Member of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), who is the former Sports Secretary, Ex-IAS, Kerala:1982, and currently the member of Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC).

Now, Rakesh Kacker, former Food Processing Industries Secretary, Ex-IAS, TN:1977, will be the new member at the Dispute Resolution Committee in place of Dubey.

Following the new appointment, the list of members of the Dispute Resolution Committee will be comprised of –

i). P. K. Basu, former Agriculture Secretary, Ex-IAS, BH: 1976;

ii). M.F. Farooqui (former DOT Secretary/ Heavy Industry Secretary, Ex-IAS, TN: 1978); and iii). Rakesh Kacker, former Food Processing Industries Secretary, Ex-IAS, TN: 1977.

In December last year, MNRE has appointed PK Basu as the DRC member after the resignation of Anil Swarup, who is the former Coal Secretary/ School Edn. Secretary, Ex-IAS, UP: 1981, from the Committee.

In June 2019, government had setup this 3-member dispute resolution committee in order to resolve the unforeseen disputes between the renewable energy players and the government agencies. This committee was authorized to solve disputes between the solar and/or wind power developers and government agencies like the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and NTPC.
