MNRE Allocates Additional 5000 MW to Rajasthan Under PM KUSUM Component A

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has allocated an additional 5,000 MW capacity under Component A of the PM-KUSUM scheme to Rajasthan, marking a significant boost to the state’s renewable energy initiatives.

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has approved the allocated an additional 5,000 MW capacity under Component A of PM-KUSUM scheme to Rajasthan government. It has been allocated to the state’s implementing agency Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RUVNL).

This comes after Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma wrote to Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi requesting for the additional allocation. The matter was further discussed between the two leaders in New Delhi.

This development was shared by the MNRE Minister on X, “Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and his team met me on January 7, 2025 in Delhi with a request for allocation of additional 5000 MW under PM KUSUM (Component A - Feeder level Solarisation) scheme. I am delighted to share that we have accepted the request and issued orders in record time for the additional allocation of 5000 MW.”

He further added, “Under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi, we are committed to be leaders in renewable energy sector and shall go the extra mile when it comes to addressing requests and concerns of state governments who are partners in this endeavour.”

In his letter, the Rajasthan CM also gave an update on the previous allocation and the implementation of the same. “Few months back, you on our request had agreed for allocation of additional 1,000 MW under Component A and 2 lakh agriculture pumps under Component C of the scheme. I am happy to inform you that out of allocated capacity of 1,700 MW under Component A, State has commissioned plants for around 308 MW, executed PPA for another 294 MW and projects of 1,000 MW capacity are under tendering.”

The letter further noted that under Component C, Rajasthan has awarded work for 4,547 MW, out of which projects of 91 MW have already been commissioned and another 1,139 MW are at the tendering stage. “State has recently witnessed massive participation in the bids under PM KUSUM A and C with more than 3,000 applications being received under the recent tendering process for 613 solar power projects.”
