MNRE Advises PM Surya Ghar Vendors to Clear Applications Within 60 Days
MNRE has advised PM Surya Ghar vendors to align applications with their execution capacity and avoid retaining consumer applications for more than 60 days without valid reasons. The Ministry has identified 66 underperforming vendors with high pending applications, based on April–June 2026 performance benchmarks, for deactivation.

MNRE, in a notification, stated that vendors whose projected completion times for current backlogs exceed reasonable scheme horizons (based on April–June 2026 performance benchmarks) have been placed under deactivation effective immediately. “66 underperforming vendors have been identified and shall be deactivated based on high counts of pending applications,” it noted.
The action follows a comprehensive analysis of portal data, which identified a segment of registered vendors with a volume of applications marked as “Agreement Uploaded” that significantly exceeded their demonstrated operational installation capacity during the April-June 2026 period. MNRE said that the accumulation of pending applications could compromise consumer choice and threaten the timely disbursement of subsidies under the scheme.
Under the restriction, the deactivated vendors will not be permitted to accept new consumer applications and will no longer be visible on the consumer vendor-selection page of the PM Surya Ghar portal. However, their portal access will remain fully functional for completing installations against existing applications. This will allow the vendors to work through their current backlogs while preventing them from taking on additional consumer applications during the deactivation period.
The affected vendors have been given 30 days from the date of the notification to improve their performance and clear their pending applications. Vendors that demonstrate improved performance and bring their delivery pendency within acceptable scheme timelines will be reactivated. Those that fail to improve their performance metrics during the 30-day review period will face a further extension of the deactivation.
The action comes as less than nine months remain before the conclusion of the PM Surya Ghar scheme. MNRE stated that it is committed to ensuring that consumers who have already executed vendor agreements receive their rooftop solar installations in a time-bound manner.
