MKC Green Energy has announced that it has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) for the development of a 125 MW/500 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Uttar Pradesh.

The project will be developed with connectivity to the Uttar Pradesh State Transmission Utility (UP-STU) network and will receive Viability Gap Funding (VGF) support at INR 18 lakh/MWh under the VGF Tranche-II scheme.

The company secured the capacity at a tariff of INR 6.46/kWh in UPPCL’s auction in May 2026 for setting up 375 MW/1,500 MWh standalone BESS in Uttar Pradesh with charging under the developer's scope.

The BESSD shall be required to set up a BESS, with the primary objective of providing stored energy from the BESS to the buying entity, on an 'on demand' basis. The charging power for the BESS project shall be arranged by BESSD from renewable energy sources.

Setting up the BESS and interconnection of the BESS with the STU network, including the construction of Bay, will be under the scope of the BESSD.

The project can be located anywhere in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Land identification for the projects will be under the scope of BESSD.
