MIC Electronics Ltd. has signed an MoU with Singapore-based TOP2 Pte Ltd to fast-track India’s semiconductor manufacturing ambitions.

Under the pact, TOP2 will help MIC identify a Taiwanese fabrication partner, with the aim of starting wafer production in India at a capacity of 25,000–30,000 wafers per month.

The tie-up aligns with India’s USD 10 billion Semiconductor Mission, which seeks to reduce reliance on imports and establish the country as a global chip hub. Instead of building new fabs from scratch, MIC aims to leverage proven, operational wafer lines for faster and cost-effective scale-up.

Rakshit Mathur, CEO of MIC Electronics, said, “Semiconductors power everything from smartphones to EVs. Manufacturing wafers at scale is crucial for India’s future. With TOP2’s global expertise, we can accelerate our journey towards self-reliance.”

TOP2 has already helped three Indian companies secure silicon wafer lines in 2025, and plans to bring 2–3 more lines every year, tapping demand from EVs, 5G, AI and consumer electronics.

Rao Panidapu, Founding Partner of TOP2, added, “India is ready to unlock new opportunities in semiconductors. Our partnership with MIC combines global expertise with local strength to build resilience and scale quickly.”

The collaboration underscores both companies’ commitment to technology transfer, sustainable growth, and India’s vision of becoming a semiconductor powerhouse.
