Meyer Burger Appoints Jürgen Schiffer as New CFO

Switzerland-based Meyer Burger Technology AG has appointed Jürgen Schiffer as new its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with effect from October 1, 2020. He will succeed Manfred Häner, who is retiring soon.

Switzerland-based Meyer Burger Technology AG has appointed Jürgen Schiffer as new its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with effect from October 1, 2020. He will succeed Manfred Häner, who is retiring soon.

In this role, the responsibilities of the new CFO include transforming the existing structures and aligning reporting with the company’s new business model as a technologically leading manufacturer of solar cells and solar modules. 

Meyer Burger, which is primarily known for its production facilities in the photovoltaic (PV) industry, develops and produces systems with which solar cells can be manufactured and electrically connected for use in solar modules.

At the time, Jürgen Schiffer takes up his position on October 1, 2020, he will also become a member of the Executive Board.

He is an experienced financial expert focusing on reporting, accounting, treasury management and tax law. In recent years, the graduate banker has held senior finance and CFO positions at European companies on a mandate basis.

In addition to his core competencies in finance & controlling, Jürgen Schiffer has gained significant experience as a management consultant and interim manager in dealing with complex turnaround situations. 

He is familiar with company analyzes, the design of quality assurance processes and the development of reporting structures. Jürgen Schiffer is already familiar with the solar industry from his previous work for solar companies such as Conergy AG and Q-Cells AG. 

Commenting on the new appointment, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Franz Richter, said, “Jürgen Schiffer, with his profound financial knowledge and extensive experience in transformation processes, is the ideal person to accompany Meyer Burger in the upcoming growth phase.”

Meanwhile, the Board of Directors also thanked Manfred Häner for his great contribution to the transformation process and wishes him all the best for the future.
