Masdar Funded 25 MW Wind Project in Jordan Advances with EPC Contract Signing

Jordan has taken another step in expanding its renewable energy portfolio with the signing of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for a 25 MW wind power project in the Batn Al Ghoul area of Ma'an Governorate.

The contract was signed at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources between Samra Electric Power Company (SEPCO) and Al Mawaqea for General Contracting Technology, which has been appointed as the EPC contractor for the project. The initiative is being implemented under the cooperation agreement signed in February between the ministry and Masdar, formally known as Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company.

The project involves the supply and installation of five wind turbines with a combined generation capacity of 25 MW. It will be fully financed by the Government of the United Arab Emirates through Masdar, while SEPCO will be responsible for operating and maintaining the facility after its completion and handover.

According to the ministry, the project reflects the growing energy cooperation between Jordan and the UAE and is expected to support Jordan's renewable energy expansion, strengthen energy security, accelerate the transition to clean energy sources, and help meet the country's increasing electricity demand. The initiative also reinforces the strategic partnership between the two countries and their shared commitment to sustainable development.
