Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. has taken a decisive step into the country’s electric mobility landscape by announcing a unified EV charging ecosystem backed by collaborations with 13 leading Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and aggregators.
As part of the initiative, the company has unveiled an end-to-end digital platform designed to simplify home and public charging, complete with integrated payments and a seamless user interface.
The company has already set up over 2,000 exclusive EV charging points across its nationwide sales and service network, spanning more than 1,100 cities. This network will be significantly bolstered by partner-operated charging stations, forming one of India’s most expansive EV charging grids. Maruti Suzuki has set an ambitious target of enabling over 1,00,000 public charging points by 2030, strengthening confidence among prospective EV buyers.
Announcing the collaboration agreements in New Delhi, Maruti Suzuki Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said the company aims to deliver a “delightful ownership experience” while ensuring customer trust in the EV ecosystem. He added that the partnerships with CPOs would help Maruti Suzuki support multiple upcoming EV models, aligned with Suzuki’s global electrification roadmap.
Highlighting the company’s readiness, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, said that the platform ensures easy access to charging points at an average distance of 5–10 kilometres in the top 100 Indian cities. DC fast chargers positioned along major highways will further enable uninterrupted long-distance travel. Maruti Suzuki has also deployed a 1.5 lakh-strong EV-ready workforce and activated 1,500+ EV-ready service workshops to support customers across the country.
To demonstrate its infrastructure capabilities, the company flagged off the nationwide ‘e drive’, featuring four e VITARA EVs headed towards Srinagar, Kanyakumari, Dibrugarh, and Bhuj, symbolically covering India’s four corners. The drive aims to validate real-world usability of the charging network and encourage wider EV adoption.
Central to the initiative is the ‘e for me’ mobile app, which brings together public and home charging on a single platform. The app allows users to locate, access, and pay for charging sessions, remotely manage their smart home charger, mirror the interface on the car’s infotainment system, and use a unified payment system via UPI or the dedicated ‘Maruti Suzuki Money’.
The company also showcased the capabilities of the e VITARA Born EV, which has undergone over 1 crore kilometres of testing across challenging terrains from 60°C deserts to –30°C snowy regions. The model offers a certified range of 543 km for the 61 kWh battery version, positioning it as a globally benchmarked product engineered in India for international markets.
With this move, Maruti Suzuki has positioned itself as a major player in India’s emerging EV ecosystem, combining nationwide infrastructure, digital integration, and product readiness to accelerate the country’s transition to electric mobility.
