Manohar Lal has assumed the position of Union Minister of Power at Shram Shakti Bhawan, adding to his existing responsibilities as Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs.

The event was marked by a formal welcome from the Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Pankaj Agarwal, alongside senior officials.

The occasion saw the presence of key figures, including the former Minister of Power, Raj Kumar Singh, who extended a cordial welcome to his successor. Also in attendance was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Power, Shripad Yesso Naik.

Following the formalities, Manohar Lal was briefed by senior officials on the current status and key issues within the Ministry of Power. He then conducted a review meeting focused on the nation's power supply situation, highlighting his immediate engagement with critical aspects of the power sector.

Manohar Lal has taken the charge at a critical time, as the country faces unprecedented power demand, which reached an all-time high of 250 GW in May this year. The Ministry of Power had earlier projected that peak power demand could climb to 260 GW during this summer season. This surge in demand is putting significant pressure on the nation’s power infrastructure.
