Maithon Power Limited (MPL) : first successful PPP in green field generation project

Indian Register Quality Systems(IRQS) certifies MPL for successful implementation of ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007.

Maithon Power Limited (MPL), the 74:26 Joint Venture between Tata Power and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has implemented 2 x 525 MW coal-fired power project power in Jharkhand. MPL is the first successful public-private partnership in green field generation project in the country.

Maithon Power Limited (MPL) has successfully completed three internal system audits and two external audits conducted by IRQS, including certification audit which concluded in December 2013. The Integrated Management System (IMS) policy was signed on March 4th 2013. In less than one year, the MPL team successfully integrated Quality Management System, Environment Management System, Occupation Health and Safety Management System and completed the certification audit.

Speaking on the accomplishment, Mr. Bhaskar Sarkar, CEO - Maithon Power Ltd. said, “It is a remarkable achievement for us to receive the IRQS certification for Quality, Environmental, and Occupational Health & Safety management practices."

Maithon Power Project is located at Maithon in the state of Jharkhand with a total capacity of 1050 MW. In addition to supplying power to DVC, power from the Maithon Project is being exported to power deficit northern states.
