Luminous Power Technologies has announced plans to deepen its manufacturing presence in Odisha, with investments in solar cell production and advanced energy storage manufacturing, as the company positions the state as a key hub in its clean energy growth strategy.

The company outlined its plans during a government event held in Khordha, where it also showcased its latest solar and energy storage products. The firm said that Odisha has emerged as a strategic location for its expansion because of the state’s policy support, improving infrastructure and increasing focus on renewable energy.

Luminous is currently developing two manufacturing facilities in Odisha. The first is an advanced energy storage and manufacturing plant in Angul, which will focus on next-generation energy storage technologies and battery manufacturing. The second is a solar cell manufacturing facility at Gopalpur, aimed at strengthening domestic solar manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports.

According to the company, both projects are in advanced stages of development and are expected to become operational soon.

Speaking at the event, Vivek Abrol, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Luminous Power Technologies, said that Odisha is not only becoming an important manufacturing base for the company but is also emerging as a gateway to India’s expanding clean energy sector.

He said that the company’s continued investments in the state reflect its commitment to supporting India’s clean energy targets while also contributing to local economic growth and stronger energy infrastructure.

At the Khordha event, Luminous displayed a range of products and technologies targeted at residential, commercial and industrial consumers. The company showcased its on-grid, off-grid and hybrid solar systems, along with Topcon bifacial solar panels, high-performance inverters, batteries and its Connect X monitoring application.

The company said that the product range is intended to address diverse energy requirements and reflects its focus on innovation, reliability and sustainability.

The upcoming facilities at Angul and Gopalpur are also expected to generate local employment and support skill development in Odisha. Luminous said that the projects would contribute to broader industrial growth in eastern India while helping expand the country’s renewable energy manufacturing base.

The expansion comes as companies increase investments in domestic solar and battery manufacturing in line with India’s push for energy security and a lower-carbon economy. Industry executives at the event said eastern India, particularly Odisha, is expected to play a larger role in the next phase of the country’s renewable energy transition.

With the two new facilities, Luminous is seeking to align its future growth with national priorities around renewable energy, industrial development and long-term sustainability.
