Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced that its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) vertical has won a series of prestigious orders across the Middle East to enhance regional power infrastructure.
One of the flagship projects involves engineering, procurement, and construction of a 400 kV substation in the UAE, a key element in the expansion of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Interconnection Grid. The existing grid, which links the electricity networks of GCC member states, has already enhanced power sharing and resilience across the region. Currently, Oman’s network is connected to the interconnection via the UAE at 220 kV. The new 400 kV interconnection aims to further boost capacity and reliability across the GCC states.
In addition, L&T’s PT&D unit has bagged another order to construct multiple 132 kV substations to meet the rising electricity demand in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, in Saudi Arabia, the company has secured a turnkey contract for the construction of 380 kV overhead transmission lines, supporting the integration of renewable energy power plants into the national grid.
The company said these strategic wins reaffirm its strong execution capabilities and commitment to supporting the region’s clean energy and grid modernisaion goals.
