Larsen & Toubro Vyoma, the digital infrastructure arm of Larsen & Toubro, has set up a 40 MW green, AI-ready data centre at Mahape, Navi Mumbai. The Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for its upcoming facility has also been conducted. The facility is part of a larger 100 MW data centre campus planned in the city and underscores L&T Vyoma’s commitment to building sustainable, high-performance digital infrastructure in India.
The development comes at a time when India’s digital economy is witnessing rapid expansion, driven by rising cloud adoption, AI-intensive workloads and increasing data localisation requirements. The company is addressing this demand by creating resilient, scalable and future-ready digital infrastructure.
The Navi Mumbai data centre is designed to support Build-to-Suit, Enterprise and NeoCloud workloads, enabling next-generation, high-density computing for AI and mission-critical applications. It will feature Direct-to-Chip Liquid Cooling technology, ensuring efficient thermal management for advanced AI workloads while enhancing scalability, resilience and energy efficiency.
Sustainability remains central to the project’s design, with the facility integrating renewable energy solutions to enable low-carbon operations and support India’s long-term climate goals.
Commenting on the development, R Shankar Raman, President, Whole-time Director and CFO, L&T, said, “The digital infrastructure forms the foundation of national progress.Through L&T Vyoma, the company is building a sovereign and sustainable digital ecosystem powered by world-class, indigenous capabilities, with the Navi Mumbai facility reflecting the vision of limitless, intelligent and AI-ready growth.”
Prashant Chiranjive Jain, Head – Corporate Centre, L&T, highlighted Navi Mumbai’s strategic importance as a digital hub, adding that the project sets new benchmarks for AI-ready infrastructure by meeting the demanding performance needs of generative AI while remaining anchored in low-carbon operations.
The Mahape data centre strengthens L&T Vyoma’s colocation and build-to-suit portfolio and aligns with its three-pillar strategy, which includes hyperscale-ready campuses for global cloud providers, AI-centric infrastructure for sovereign and enterprise needs and comprehensive colocation offerings supported by edge and disaster recovery solutions.
This project is a cornerstone of L&T Vyoma’s national expansion roadmap, which targets more than 200 MW of data centre capacity across key digital hubs such as Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
