L&T Ltd has announced its power business has secured a “significant” Engineering, Procurement and Construction order from NTPC to set up a Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) system at Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station in Madhya Pradesh.
The company outlines a significant order as one with a value between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore. The order covers the first stage of the plant with 1,260 Mw capacity and the second stage of 1,000 Mw capacity.
“This is in continuation to the order received for Stage III & IV (2x500 MW & 2x500 MW) in September last year. With this, L&T will be implementing FGD systems for 12 units constituting 4260 MW at NTPC’s Vindhyachal power plant which will have the maximum number of FGD systems at one location in India,” the company said in a declaration.
The environment ministry has made installation of FGD systems in prevailing and upcoming thermal power plants compulsory to restrict SO2 emissions.
