LR Energy has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Omega Bright Steel for a 6 MWp (DC)/5 MW (AC) captive solar power project in Haryana, aimed at meeting a significant portion of the steel company’s electricity requirements through renewable energy.

The project will integrate solar power into Omega Bright Steel’s operations, helping the company reduce its dependence on conventional power sources while improving energy efficiency and supporting its sustainability initiatives.

The agreement also strengthens LR Energy’s presence in the commercial and industrial (C&I) renewable energy segment, where businesses are increasingly adopting captive power solutions to manage energy costs and reduce their environmental footprint.

“This collaboration reflects our shared vision of building a cleaner and more sustainable industrial ecosystem. We are delighted to partner with Omega Bright Steel and look forward to delivering a reliable solar energy solution that supports their long-term growth while contributing to India’s renewable energy goals,” said GS Barara, CEO and Director, LR Energy.

The captive solar project is expected to offset carbon emissions and provide clean electricity throughout its operational life. The captive model is also expected to offer long-term energy cost stability and improve power reliability for industrial operations.

LR Energy has a portfolio spanning solar power, compressed biogas (CBG), wastewater treatment and other renewable energy solutions. The company provides integrated clean-energy solutions for businesses and communities and is expanding its presence in renewable energy projects across India.
