Climate-related droughts and extreme weather have placed greater strain on water supplies, placing additional pressure on both security of supply and local communities, as well as the decarbonization of energy-intensive systems. Solar-powered pumping technology uses renewable energy to provide reliable and sustainable water supplies at lower costs, even in remote locations.
This partnership will expand and strengthen Xylem and LORENTZ's respective sustainable pumping offerings. Under this agreement, Xylem will leverage both companies' energy solutions. LORENTZ will supply Xylem with solar energy and hybrid solar grid systems. In addition, LORENTZ technology will be used to complement Xylem's existing portfolio of solutions and the companies will now work together to develop new Xylem products. Both companies will continue to serve their respective market segments and maintain their existing distribution networks.
“Innovative technologies offer new ways to protect and optimize water supplies while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. LORENTZ technology is a perfect example of this. This collaboration provides our customers with novel sustainable pumping solutions as they strive for decarbonization and enables cost-effective, efficient and resilient water management,” said Franz Cerwinka, senior vice president, president, Applied Water Systems and Business Transformation, Xylem.
“Transporting liquids is an extremely energy-intensive process. By leveraging solar energy and hybrid solar grid systems, we can enable customers to achieve their sustainable energy goals using renewable energy. We are extremely pleased to join forces with Xylem to accelerate the water sector’s journey to Net Zero,” said Bernt Lorentz, Founder and Chief Executive of LORENTZ.
The distribution agreement excludes the Australian market.
