LONGi Green Energy Technology Co. has once again made a breakthrough in the field of solar energy, announcing that the company has broken another world record for silicon solar cell efficiency. This achievement comes just four months after setting the previous record on May 7.
Certified by Germany's Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin (ISFH), LONGi's new silicon heterojunction back-contact (HBC) solar cells have reached an efficiency of 27.30 percent under laboratory conditions. The announcement was made at a celebratory event where LONGi also unveiled its latest product, the Hi-MO 9 module.
The event, graced by guests including LONGi's founder and president, Li Zhenguo, Vice President Dennis She, Chief Scientist Dr. Xu Xixiang, and client representatives from across the globe, marks a significant milestone for the company.
This latest achievement solidifies LONGi's position as a leader in the global solar energy industry. With this record-breaking feat, the company has now set a world record in solar cell efficiency for the 17th time since April 2021. LONGi's prowess extends to crystalline silicon photovoltaics, as it holds twin world records for efficiency in both crystalline silicon solar cells and crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem solar cells.
In November 2023, LONGi announced yet another world record in the efficiency of crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem solar cells, reaching an unprecedented efficiency of 33.9 percent.
At the celebratory event in Madrid, Spain, held on the evening of May 7th, LONGi introduced its flagship Hi-MO 9 module. Boasting capabilities of up to 660W, the Hi-MO 9 module is based on the 2nd generation Hybrid Passivated Back Contact (HPBC) solar cell technology and the TaiRay wafer, launched by LONGi in March 2024. With a conversion efficiency of up to 24.43 percent, the Hi-MO 9 module is designed to excel in various environments, including lakes, mountains, and deserts.
Dennis She, Vice President of LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., emphasized the features of the Hi-MO 9 module, stating, "Our new Hi-MO 9 module allows world-leading power generation and outmatches other technologies on the market in an equal land-use scenario." He highlighted the module's reliability and assured power plant owners of its long-term performance benefits.
Production of the Hi-MO 9 panels will take place at LONGi's Jiaxing Production Base, recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Global Lighthouse Factory.
