Lightsource BP, a global pioneer in the creation and management of solar energy projects, has opened an office in Aix-en-Provence, France. Lightsource bp France, led by Raphael Colas, is expanding its workforce in order to expand its services for enterprises and municipal governments.

Its goal is to build a 1GW solar power pipeline in France by 2026, mostly through large-scale solar farms.

In 2017, Lightsource BP was formed as a joint venture between solar energy provider Lightsource and energy giant bp. Lightsource bp has created a range of solar projects with a total capacity of 5.4GW since its establishment in 18 countries.

The company is now moving into France with a 360° offering that includes everything from early site selection to funding, permitting, long-term management of production sites, and electricity sales.

By 2026, the company expects to build numerous large-scale solar farms in France (primarily on ground-mount projects), bringing its entire pipeline of solar power projects to 1GW.

Lightsource bp plans to compete in public auctions and offer enterprises long-term energy supply contracts (Power Purchase Agreements) at competitive rates that are consistent over time, which is a key asset in these times of rising inflation.
