Koppu Sadashiv Murthy Takes Over as CMD of BHEL
In a significant development, Koppu Sadashiv Murthy has taken on the role of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) at the esteemed state-run enterprise, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

Murthy, a seasoned professional, previously served as the Executive Director of BHEL's Corporate Operations Management group and concurrently held the position of CMD at Bharat Pumps and Compressors Limited (BPCL).
An Electrical Engineering alumnus from Bhopal University, coupled with an MBA in Finance, Murthy embarked on his journey with BHEL in 1989, commencing his career at the Jhansi manufacturing unit.
Over the course of his remarkable 34-year tenure, he has contributed his expertise to various BHEL units, including Hyderabad, Bhopal, Jhansi, and Varanasi.
Under Murthy's leadership as the Head of Corporate Operations Management in Delhi, BHEL experienced a remarkable turnaround, reporting profits in FY22-23 and FY21-22 after grappling with consecutive years of losses. Even in the face of challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic in BHEL's Varanasi unit, the company managed to achieve a profit before tax equivalent to over 25 percent of its revenue in FY20-21.
During his tenure at BPCL, Mr. Murthy was instrumental in strengthening relationships with stakeholders, which led to successful asset monetization totaling Rs. 80 crore. He also played a pivotal role in resolving longstanding payment and contractual issues, further enhancing the organization's operational efficiency and financial stability.
Koppu Sadashiv Murthy's assumption of the CMD role at BHEL brings with it a wealth of experience, a track record of success, and the promise of continued growth and prosperity for the organization.
