KMC Speciality Hospitals will procure solar power from Gardenia Energy for its MAA Kauvery Hospital unit.

The company has picked up 26 percent equity in Gardenia Energy to become a captive consumer for availing the solar power. “The acquisition of shares was made solely to satisfy the requirement of becoming a Captive Consumer. By virtue of this acquisition, the company does not gain any control over the company and the investment is highly restrictive in nature,” the company stated in a regulatory filing.

KMC Hospitals has made significant progress in its renewable energy transition, with clean energy accounting for nearly 78 percent of its total power mix in FY 2024-25.

During the year, the hospital group consumed 7.10 million mega joules of renewable energy, generating cost savings of over INR 28.05 million. The chain has now set its sights on achieving 100 percent renewable energy consumption by the close of the next financial year.
