In a major push to boost India’s electric mobility infrastructure, Kazam, an EV charging solutions provider, has announced a strategic partnership with Yuma Energy, a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) company formed as a joint venture between Magna International and Yulu Bikes.

The collaboration will integrate Yuma’s battery-swapping stations into Kazam’s Park and Charge (P&C) hubs, enabling rapid energy replenishment for two- and three-wheeler commercial EVs.

The nationwide rollout of the partnership officially began at Mahadevapura Park and Charge Hub in Bengaluru, marking the first of many such integrations planned across the country.

Under the partnership, drivers using EVs from Yuma’s partner OEMs can now swap out depleted batteries for fully charged ones in under a minute, significantly reducing vehicle downtime. This is especially valuable in the e-commerce and last-mile logistics sectors, where turnaround time is critical.

Kazam, which operates 60 Park and Charge hubs across 10 Indian states, supports the daily charging of over 3,000 vehicles. Additionally, the company manages more than 200 charging hubs in collaboration with major clients such as Zypp Electric and BigBasket, spanning 81 cities. These hubs primarily cater to delivery personnel using electric two- and three-wheelers and offer dedicated charging spaces along with rest and refreshment facilities.

Launched in 2023, Kazam’s Park and Charge model was created to support commercial EV drivers with reliable and accessible charging infrastructure. Since its inception, the network has delivered over 1 GWh of clean energy, facilitating more than 22 million kilometres of emission-free journeys.

Yuma Energy, known for running one of India’s most efficient battery-swapping networks with a 99 percent uptime and under one-minute swap times, has completed over 20 million battery swaps, powering upwards of 800 million green kilometres. The company emphasises data-driven operations and is committed to creating affordable, accessible, and zero-emission mobility solutions.

Commenting on the partnership, Deepak Nanwani, Head of Revenue and Operations at Yuma Energy, said, “This partnership builds on the synergies between the two companies to develop a strong ecosystem for the e-mobility industry. Kazam's Park and Charge Hubs, with their robust electric power infrastructure, will play a pivotal role in accelerating the deployment of our advanced battery-swapping stations, bringing faster and more convenient energy solutions to EV users.”

Echoing the sentiment, Muthu Subramanian, GM and MD of Yuma Energy, stated, “Partnering with Kazam allows us to expedite the establishment of new Yuma stations, effectively catering to the rapidly growing user base. This collaboration ensures we meet increasing demands with speed and efficiency.”

Paras Shah, COO and co-founder of Kazam, highlighted the broader goal, saying, “We’re thrilled to join hands with Yuma. This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission of decarbonising last-mile deliveries. By integrating Yuma’s battery swapping modules within Kazam's Park and Charge hubs, the transition to green has become that much easier for any fleet operator or e-commerce company.”

As the EV sector accelerates, this partnership reflects the growing collaboration between key players in building a more integrated and efficient charging ecosystem. With battery swapping now part of the offering, Kazam and Yuma are poised to redefine the EV logistics landscape, making sustainable transportation more accessible and scalable across India.
