KawiSafi Ventures has invested USD 2 million in Bengaluru-based solar company Orb Energy, with the funding ring-fenced for its Africa business. The investment will support the company’s commercial and industrial (C&I) solar pipeline across Kenya and East Africa, including project delivery, expansion of its local team and development of financing partnerships.

Orb Energy has installed close to 15 MW of rooftop solar capacity for more than 60 C&I customers across East Africa. With the new investment, the company plans to expand its regional footprint and accelerate solar adoption among businesses in sectors including manufacturing, agro-processing, healthcare and hospitality.

The funding is expected to support Orb Energy’s growing presence in the East African solar market as it expands its C&I project pipeline across the region.
