K Shanmugha Sundaram Takes Charge as Director (Projects) at NTPC
Prior to his current role, he served as the Executive Director to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) at NTPC Limited.

In a significant development, K. Shanmugha Sundaram officially assumed the role of Director (Projects) at NTPC.
Sundaram, a distinguished 1988 batch graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Govt. College of Technology, Coimbatore, with a PGDM from MDI Gurgaon specializing in Strategy & Finance, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Prior to his current role, he served as the Executive Director to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) at NTPC Limited.
Having embarked on his journey with NTPC as a Graduate Engineer Trainee officer in 1988, Sundaram boasts over 35 years of extensive experience in both the Project and Commissioning stages of power plants ranging from 110 MW to 800 MW.
His expertise spans greenfield and brownfield projects across various states in India, encompassing a vast fleet of power stations.
Notably, Shanmugha Sundaram played a pivotal role in the development of India's first supercritical power project at Sipat. His contributions extended to various capacities at the NTPC Darlipali Project and the Corporate Centre's Operation Services department, where he actively monitored company functions and spearheaded strategic initiatives.
During his tenure as Head of Project at NTPC Barauni (720 MW), a project taken over from Bihar State Electricity Board, Sundaram achieved successful project commissioning.
As the Head of Project at Talcher Kaniha (3000 MW), he played a key role in enhancing station performance, leading to the prestigious CII-ITC Sustainability award and the construction of Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD).
