Power transmission EPC company Jyoti Structures (JSL) has announced that the company has received Notifications of Award (NOAs) from Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) for two packages under the ±800 kV HVDC Bipole Barmer-II and South Kalamb Transmission Lines project in Rajasthan. The combined order value is INR 949.35 crore, excluding GST.
The awards cover Lot 1 under package TL01, valued at INR 474.85 crore, and Lot 2 under package TL02, valued at INR 474.50 crore. The scope includes the supply, erection, testing and commissioning of ±800 kV high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission lines on a total turnkey basis. Both packages carry a completion period of 38 months from the date of the respective Notifications of Award, the company stated.
Commenting on the development, Amit Dutta, COO, Jyoti Structures, said, “We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to India’s transmission infrastructure through projects of this scale. Our experience in the sector guides our approach to infrastructure project delivery. We look forward to working closely with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited to deliver these projects as planned.”
The Power Grid awards follow JSL’s recent INR 689.93 crore order from Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO) for the 765 kV DC Pachchham–Saykha Transmission Line project in Gujarat. JSL is also undertaking a 220 kV double-circuit transmission line project in Sri Lanka in partnership with Hayleys Fentons to support the evacuation of wind power to the country’s national grid.
High-voltage direct current technology enables the transmission of large volumes of electricity over long distances and plays an important role in strengthening power transmission networks. Executing such projects requires specialised engineering, detailed planning and coordination across multiple stages of delivery, the company asserted.
It further added that with over five decades of experience in transmission EPC, JSL brings integrated capabilities across design and engineering, manufacturing, prototype tower testing and project execution. The company has constructed more than 37,600 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and delivered over 1,800 high-voltage substation bays across India and international markets, it said.
